1. Who We Are

NonprofitSpending is operated by OpenDataHQ. We provide nonprofit transparency and IRS 990 intelligence tools, making nonprofit finances accessible and understandable through AI-powered analysis of public records.

2. Information We Collect

NonprofitSpending does not require account creation to browse the service. We may collect anonymous usage data, search queries in aggregate, local storage preferences, standard server logs, and, if you request a nonprofit report, data export, or watchlist update, the email address, request details, source page, consent timestamp, and organization identifier needed to respond to that request.

3. Nonprofit & IRS 990 Data

All nonprofit financial data displayed on NonprofitSpending is sourced from publicly available records, specifically the ProPublica Nonprofit Explorer API and IRS 990 electronic filings. This information is already in the public domain. We do not collect private financial information about individual donors or nonprofit staff beyond what is disclosed in public filings.

4. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use essential cookies for site functionality, analytics cookies (Google Analytics) for anonymous usage statistics, and advertising cookies (Google AdSense) for ad personalization. You may opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings.

5. Google AdSense & Advertising

NonprofitSpending uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info/choices. Review Google's Privacy Policy for more information.

6. Third-Party Services

We integrate with: Google AdSense (advertising), Google Analytics (usage statistics), email and request-processing infrastructure, Ezoic (ad optimization), Infolinks (contextual advertising), ProPublica Nonprofit Explorer API (nonprofit data), and IRS electronic filings (public records). Each service has its own privacy policy.

7. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to: provide and maintain the service, improve search and analysis quality, respond to report, export, watchlist, and research requests you submit, enhance user experience, display relevant advertisements, monitor for abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

8. Data Retention

Server logs are retained for up to 90 days then deleted. Aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely. Report, export, and watchlist request records may be retained for up to 24 months unless you request deletion. Local storage persists until you clear it.

9. Data Sharing & Disclosure

NonprofitSpending does not sell personal data. We may share anonymized, aggregated data with advertising partners and may share request details with service providers who help us operate email, hosting, analytics, payment, or customer-support workflows. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of NonprofitSpending, our users, or the public.

10. Your Rights (CCPA / GDPR)

You may have rights to know, delete, opt-out, access, rectify, and non-discrimination regarding your data. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@opendatahq.com. We respond within 45 days.

11. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

NonprofitSpending is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in compliance with COPPA. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact privacy@opendatahq.com and we will promptly delete it.
